Heritage: a priceless past

Cowansville exudes loyalist charm and the rich history of the region. You will find Second Empire style homes and others with a Victorian accent; there is even the Queen Anne style home of a former prime minister. The décor and the century old trees are truly majestic.

Century Old Trees

This valued part of our natural heritage is mostly found on the Heritage Circuit, but also on William and Church Streets. Don’t miss the famous Norwegian Pine in front of Nesbitt House.

Historical Mural

At the intersection of rue du Sud and Principale, you will find a mural which gives an historical and artistic glimpse of Cowansville’s main street. This work was produced by the Mural-Artists of Brome-Missisquoi.

All of the buildings depicted on the mural were destroyed in the great fire of 1944. The production of this mural was part of the promotion of the City’s heritage and allowed for the refurbishing of certain buildings.

Museums: to learn a little more

Bruck Museum

Two exhibitions are featured at the Bruck Museum. Historical photographs of Cowansville are displayed in the main foyer and the second floor hall. These photographs and their detailed explanations are greatly appreciated by residents. In one of the exhibit halls, a number of works from the Bruck-Lee collection are displayed for your viewing enjoyment.
